MISSION
The mission of Take Stock in Children of Broward County is to break the cycle of poverty for low-income, academically qualified students by providing opportunities for a post-secondary education.

Take Stock in Children was founded in the early 1990s to tackle the serious dropout rates plaguing our public school system. Low-income and minority children face formidable challenges that make graduating high school and pursuing a college education more difficult. Exceeding the national average, Florida children living in poverty are often overlooked and underserved. We are committed to changing this narrative, ensuring that every child has the opportunity and resources needed to succeed.
THE CRISIS
Of Broward County's student population, only 87% graduate from high school on time (OpportunityIndex.org), and only 44% of these students are expected to enroll in college and graduate with a degree (OpportunityIndex.org). In addition, according to economic data, unemployment rates are higher among those without a high school diploma and contribute to Broward County's 13% of disconnected youth not in school and not working (OpportunityIndex.org).
OUR RESPONSE

Take Stock in Children (TSIC) of Broward is dedicated to addressing the challenges of low college enrollment and high unemployment rates among low-income, at-risk students. Our comprehensive program model aims to enhance post-secondary enrollment and career readiness by providing extensive support, motivation, and accountability through mentoring. We firmly believe that with the right guidance encouragement, students will strive for success, graduate from high school, and achieve their post-secondary educational goals. Together, we can empower the next generation to build brighter futures.
VISION

Every youth, regardless of socio-economic background deserves a chance to pursue a post-secondary education.
