TSIC Broward Graduates 55 scholars with $1 Million in Scholarships!
Tuesday, April 30, 2019, Davie, FL – Take Stock in Children of Broward (TSIC) celebrated 55 low-income, at-risk youth finding the keys to success through education at its 16th Annual Graduation and Awards Ceremony. These high school seniors graduated from the program with close to $1M in Florida Prepaid Scholarships. As a class, these students have already earned over 500 college credits, one-third will be receiving Bright Futures Scholarships, and 90% have been accepted/committed to a post-secondary institution. TSIC, not only guarantees a post-secondary scholarship, but also prepares its students for college with a comprehensive college and career readiness curriculum. “These students have been given the keys to success through education and are truly college ready!” states Amanda Frey, executive Director of the Take Stock program in Broward.
This year’s valedictorian, Arnold Fuentes, is graduating with a 5.32 GPA and plans to attend Dartmouth College. He plans to major in electrical engineering. Arnold says, “Take Stock has become like another family to me. It represents the determination and perseverance of countless dedicated individuals, guaranteeing our success as students!"
The ceremony took place at Signature Grand, also acknowledging the dedication of those in the community that helped TSIC students access the keys to success. Recognitions at the event included: Mrs. Rose A. Williams as Mentor of the Year; The Jason Taylor Foundation as Community Partner of the Year; and Ms. Andie Segal, from Sheridan Technical High School, as School Coordinator of the Year.
Graduation partners included Broward College, Bank of America, Nova Southeastern University, Sam's Soulutions, The American Registry, and JM Family Enterprises, Inc. Scholarship partners included Broward College Foundation, Broward Education Foundation, Cruise Industry Charitable Foundation, Jarden Consumer Solutions Community Fund, Jason Taylor Foundation, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., Ultimate Software, M.A.M.A Scholarship Program, Ultimate Software, and the Stanley G. Tate Florida Prepaid College Foundation.

Take Stock in Children (TSIC), is a Florida 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1995, providing mentors, scholarships and hope for Florida’s exemplary students from low-income families.
