FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Intracoastal Brunch Changes Fifteen Lives!
Fort Lauderdale, FL - On March 2, over 100 of Broward's philanthropic community members gathered with one vision, one goal: To provide deserving, low-income, at-risk youth with the opportunity to pursue a post-secondary education. Through their efforts, $70K was raised and now 15 waitlisted students of the Take Stock in Children program can fulfill their college dreams. In addition, they will receive one-on-one mentoring, academic case management, and college and career guidance through Take Stock in Children.
Since 1995, Take Stock in Children statewide has provided 30,242 children with scholarships and mentors. Over 100% of TSIC scholars graduate high school and 96% go on to pursue a post-secondary education, with a 67% college graduation rate, well over the national average. Locally TSIC has served 1,450 of these students and awarded nearly $14.5 million in scholarships!
In addition to raising scholarship funds, the 2019 Intracoastal Brunch at The Grateful Palate Catering and Events featured recognized Rose A. Williams as Mentor of the Year and the Jason Taylor Foundation as Community Partner of the Year, and featured live jazz, a delectable brunch selection, silent auction, and raffle pull-board, where every pull was a win!
Proud sponsors included JM Family Enterprises Inc., Ultimate Software, TriSpark Media, Broward College, Matt and Gina Benkendorf, Dickinson Wright, Bank of America, MAMA Scholarship Program, Inc., Broward Health, Sam Soulutions, and Dex Imaging.
The call to take action to change the lives of some of Broward’s most vulnerable youth did not end on March 2nd… it continues every day, 365 days a year. Will you join in #changinglives?
