#ChangingLives One Haircut at a Time
ECHO Salon sponsors event for Take Stock in Children of Broward County
The first day of school can be stressful for students, particularly students who come from low-income backgrounds. On August 21st, ECHO Salon provided an amazing opportunity to 10 Take Stock in Children Scholars by providing each of them with a complimentary haircut and style, which in turn gave them a boost of self-confidence for their first day of school.
ECHO Salon and Take Stock in Children have a common mission to change the lives of children in the community for the better. Maria, a TSIC Scholar, at Fort Lauderdale High stated “You do not understand how much I needed this. The fact that I have been working so hard this summer, and I kind of neglected what I looked like on the outside, kind of made me upset that I couldn’t really be a normal teenager. As soon as I walked in I felt like a regular teenage girl with a bunch of girlfriends getting our hair done. You made me realize how beautiful I can be on the outside as well as the inside.”
The owner of Echo Salon, James Genovese stated, “We at Echo Salon are grateful for the opportunity to not only give back to the community, and this wonderful organization, but also to help boost the self-confidence of these young people, our future”.
