FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - On Friday, April 8th, 2016, ECHO Salon hosted the first annual “Education Can Harness Opportunity for Low Income Youth” fundraising event, benefitting Take Stock In Children of Broward County.
Guests enjoyed complimentary wines, hors dourves, and an ever flowing cosmopolitan fountain while listening to live music under the stars by ProMusic Weston on the beautiful Las Olas Riverfront. Each guest received a coupon for a complimentary ECHO Salon Wash and Blow Dry and participated in a raffle with over 20 prizes!
ECHO Salon donated 100% of the proceeds, a total over $2,600, to TSIC Broward in order to provide scholarships and college preparation assistance for deserving low-income youth to escape the cycle of poverty through education.
ECHO Salon and Take Stock in Children have a common mission to change the lives of children in the community for the better. “We want to thank ECHO Salon for partnering with us to increase the community’s awareness about the power of mentoring”, says Amanda Frey, executive director of Take Stock in Children of Broward. “We are both truly trying to change lives!”
Andres Garcia, a Take Stock in Children alum and current mentor spoke at the event, and told the crowd, “If it wasn’t for Take Stock in Children, I wouldn’t have been able to realize the potential that I have. The potential to be an accountant, a leader, and a role model.”
