“Change a Life Over Lunch” is packed with Scholarships, Mentors and Hope #changinglives at the Old Davie School Historical Museum

January 25, 2016

On March 10, 2016, the Corporate Council of Take Stock in Children of Broward will host the 2nd Annual “Change A Life Over Lunch” fundraising event. The Old Davie School Historical Museum will serve as the ideal backdrop for guests to reminisce of their days in grade school and learn about the impact Take Stock in Children is having on the Broward community.

“Change a Life Over Lunch” embraces the power of mentoring, generosity, and hope for future generations. Every day, often over lunch, Take Stock mentors meet with their mentees to engage them in academic pursuits, encourage their progress, and applaud their success. Now guests can also choose to “Change a Life Over Lunch” by joining the luncheon on March 10. At the event TSIC Scholars will serve as emcees and will share their powerful stories of renewed hope for their futures. Meanwhile, guest will enjoy a special bagged lunch, carefully packed by TSIC’s Corporate Council!

At the event Broward County Public Schools will be recognized as Community Partner of the Year. For the last twenty years, the district has partnered with Take Stock in Children to serve Broward’s most vulnerable youth. The district has championed TSIC’s efforts and has provided priceless resources and in-kind support. Also being recognized is the dedication of Anthony Thompson as Mentor of the Year. Tony has volunteered with Take Stock in Children for 15 years! He has mentored six students and has seen each and every one onto a path of success. Both Broward County Public Schools and Anthony Thompson are true champions of #changinglives!

“Take Stock in Children is a unique program that, for 20 years, has changed the trajectories of over 1200 low-income, at-risk Broward County youth by providing them a guaranteed post-educational opportunity,” explains Amanda Frey, Executive Director of Take Stock in Children of Broward. “This event recognizes the efforts of those in the community who have partnered with TSIC, hoping to be an active force of change in the lives of the youth we serve.”

Proud sponsors joining the celebration include PNC Bank, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., Ultimate Software, Broward College, Bank of America, Broward Health, Republic Services, The Las Olas Company, Shutts & Bowen, Roetzel, Berkowtriz Pollack Brant, Provenance Wealth Advisors, Comcast, and City National Bank.
